Care instructions for human hair
Your Human Hair is an investment piece, that if cared for properly can last a long time.
There are many benefits of Human hair fibres, their styling versatility being a driving factor for this choice of fibre as well as the option to colour the hair if required. The hair is soft and has a shine and movement that is hard to replicate synthetically.
Keeping your wig clean is key for its longevity and its important you know how best to care for it. Human Hair fibre needs to be washed to keep it healthy and reduce product build up, however it’s important not to over wash and use heat protection products when styling so as not to damage the fibre. Parrucche can recommend & provide products designed for Human Hair wigs & Toppers.

How often should human hair be cleaned?
With human hair, the recommended frequency of cleaning depends crucially on the intensity of use. Regular care increases the life of the human hair wig or hairpiece, our recommendation for daily average use is to clean human hair around 6 to 8 wears.
Step-by-step instructions for cleaning human hair
Step 1: Detangle
Before you wash, make sure you carefully detangle the hair using a wide tooth comb. Start from ends and work toward the root to decrease shedding, brushing while wet can cause damage to the fibres, so make sure you do this first.
Step 2: Rinse
Use lukewarm water and rinse from roots to ends, with a shower or tap running the water in the same direction as the hair.
Step 3: Shampoo
Apply a small amount of shampoo into the palm of your hand and distribute this evenly all over the wig, gently massage the hair until you generate a little lather, no need to agitate the wig.
Step 4: Rinse
Rinse again with cool water from the inside pushing the hair away from the base of the wig and continue until the water is running clear, NEVER LEAVE YOUR HUMAN HAIR WIG TO SOAK IN WATER OR TRY TO RINSE IT IN A BOWL AS THIS WILL CAUSE THE HAIR TO TANGLE. Blot out the excess water in a towel (DO NOT RUB THE HAIR).
Step 5: Condition
Apply the conditioner into the palm of your hand and distribute evenly all over the hair, massage this through all the hair; don't condition roots as this will loosen knots, leave for approx. 10 minutes before rinsing.
Step 6: Rinse
Rinse in the same manner as before still using cool water. Once the water is running clear lay the wig on a towel and use another to blot out as much excess water as possible; pat dry, NEVER rub.
Step 7: Styling
Once washed leave to dry 80-90% before styling. Human hair must be dried and styled after washing solely air-drying will leave the hair 'un-polished' and can trap water in the hair causing frizzing.
If blowdrying, dry the inside of cap to tighten hair knots. Spray with a heat protection spray before styling, if using heat try not to go above 140 degrees especially on blonde based colours.
When brushing be gentle and go from bottom up as pulling at hair will contribute to shedding.
Tip: It’s best to have a couple of wigs to alternate between, so you can swap between your wigs to avoid wearing one out too quickly and allow your freshly-washed wig to dry.
